Using sensory impact, we hope students will learn that chemistry, unlike magic, is comprehensible. They already comprehend some of it — chemistry is a human activity, one that real people love and find exciting. Chemistry and chemicals, like any other kind of knowledge and technology, are safe and beneficial when used carefully and intelligently. Most of all, we hope students will remember the excitement and surprise they feel during our demonstrations.
The sessions provide detailed information about the application process and ways to be admitted. Students should attend a session before scheduling an appointment with a counselor. For students who cannot participate in the full length of the program, the Corps of Cadets also offers a Spend the Day with the Corps program during the summer.

The Chemistry Open House features the popular Chemistry Road Show, guided lab tours, hands-on and computer activities, door prizes and science goodie bags. The conference will host an impromptu design competition on-site for K age groups, as well as a prebuilt team design competition, offered to high school teams only.
Family Weekend allows students to express their gratitude to those whom have impacted their lives. Grade Levels K Contact envision sec. The conference is open to female and male high school students. On Friday, the first day of the conference, high school students attend engineering classes with current engineering students and participate in tours of research facilities on campus. The following day, students choose two to three tours offered by individual engineering departments.
The objectives of this program are substantial and rigorous and require full-time student commitment. Participants are expected to complete the entire program and present their projects at Research Day. Research Day July 29, is the accumulation of all the hard work participants have put in throughout the summer. It is a one-day event where participants present their research to judges, students and faculty.
Awards will be given for the best presentations. Research Day also includes lunch and a keynote speaker. Housing and food are NOT provided for Houston participants. All program participants must perform full-time research in the laboratory if accepted into the program. Undergraduate students are encouraged to contact potential PIs and discuss availability and project ideas, however this is not mandatory.
A research project will have a hypothesis, methods of data collection, and a conclusion. Most faculty have experience in deriving such projects. Housing and food are NOT provided in Houston.
